Macallan is one of those companies one associates with hedonism, opulence and redefining luxury. In existence since 1824 and older than revolvers, they have some mileage of experience in their holster, and a taste for unrepeatable Spirits to match. Macallan is the apex purveyor of finer things, the Lebron James of distilleries, so it was no surprise when they released a sumptuous Scotch with a hue of a Spanish sunset, and it turned out to be nothing less than splendid.
 
Macallan’s Enigma is one-fourth of the Quest collection, together with Quest, Lumina and Terra. It’s exclusively drawn from European oak Sherry seasons casks, and its character is exactly what one expects: rich, intense, Sherry-forward, oak-driven excellence of Speyside. Enigma means ‘mystery’, but it’s no secret a combination of premium Scotch and Jerez de la Frontera casks is a triumph.
