The story of Scapegrace Distillery starts with two guys from New Zealand. Their paths crossed when one of them married the others sister. The two brothers-in-law spent a year talking about how they both always wanted to create their own Gin. Then, together with a part time musician, they got into a lot of debt. And then, they started making their own Gin.
They took 12 natural botanicals, water that comes down from New Zealand’s Southern Alps, and put it all in a Whisky still from the 19th century that they found in an abandoned shed. The Scapegrace Gin was born. It immediately won Gold in London and San Francisco.
Scapegrace Black Gin brings together flavors of aronia berry, saffron, pineapple, butterfly pea, and sweet potato. This unique set of botanicals is blended at precise temperatures to create the distinct taste of this Black Gin. Mind you, the color is actually black.
