Established with crowdfunding in 2015 by Pia Carusone and Rachel Gardner, Republic Restoratives in Washington D.C. has been disrupting the distilled Spirits world since its inception. It's a women-owned, politically engaged hub for cocktails, social events, and its own line of Spirits, that courageously challenge the status quo. Their motto: “Outspoken, Disruptive, American.” And it’s printed on every bottle’s label. Their message as well as their drinks are delivered with positive, unshakable vitality. True women of Spirit, in many ways.

MADAM is their latest liquid statement. The Whiskey was made to commemorate the inauguration of Kamala Harris, the nation's first African-American, South Asian-American female to serve as Vice President of the United States. Feeling that a triple glass ceiling shatterer like this deserves a worthy tipple, they designed a blend of 7-year-old Bourbon and 5-year-old Rye (mash bill: 58% rye, 37% corn, 5% malted barley) that was slow-smithed before being bottled at 92° proof (46% ABV) to produce what the creators at the distillery strive (and vote, and protest, and organize) for: a more perfect union.

The distillery collaborated with local artist Lex Marie to create a bottle design that would capture the importance, beauty, and power of the historic moment. The result is a Whiskey, a portrait, and a celebration of the outspoken and disruptive, of those who blaze new trails and who inspire us to resist and persist.
