In 1989, a number of Okinawa craftsmen set out to create the finest Whisky ever to emerge from their peaceful island just south of Japan. Every choice carefully weighted upon, every ex-Bourbon, Sherry, and Virgin White Oak barrel hand-selected with the absolute pleasure of the drinker in mind. The tropical climate with its all-year-round warm and humid weather worked its magic. In 2019, after 30 years of maturation, it was time to shine. The special juice was presented as Kujira Ryukyu 30 Year Single Grain Whisky.

And by single grain, they mean rice. Indeed, this very unique Spirit was distilled from 100% premium Indica rice, leaving distinct notes of ripe berries, dried persimmons, caramel pudding, and sugar, while wood tannins from the long maturation bring the puckery sourness of Chinese herbs, and the finish leaves a pleasantly strong flavor and long-lasting sweetness. Bottled at 86 proof (43% ABV), this is a full-bodied and smooth masterpiece that has Japanese islands written all over it.
