Kings County Chocolate Whiskey
This here's your golden ticket.
In theĀ Brooklyn Navy Yard, on the waterfront that was once known as theĀ distillery district, thereās a proud red-brick building that housesĀ the first distilleryĀ in New York City since the Prohibition. And even if itās a mere decade old, itās actuallyĀ the oldest distilleryĀ in Big Apple. They mash, ferment, distill, and bottle right there in that building, using New York grains. Practically the only thing that's imported are theĀ Scottish copper-pot stills. In the short time that they've been operational they were named Distillery of the Year by the American Distilling Institute and have wonĀ several awards, the San Francisco World Spirits Competition included.Ā Do we have your attention yet?
They also make a meanĀ Moonshine! Somewhere along the way, they got the bright idea of creating theĀ Chocolate Whiskey, based off thatĀ unagedĀ corn goodness. They teamed up with fellow Brooklynites Raaka Chocolate, who operate from their factory in Red Hook, and infused the Moonshine withĀ ground cacao bean husks. It'sĀ rich and bitter chocolaty goodness, propped up by the sweetness of the Moonshine.
