Chateau Garreau Millesime 2001 Grand Bas Armagnac (700mL)
Class up your dinner party.
The estate of ChĂąteau Garreau is nestled in the heart of the Bas Armagnac region. Today, itâs the 4th generation of the Garreau family that operates 33 hectares of vineyards but the history of the estate itself is even richer. Some of the oldest farms in the region were built there in the 17th century. The unique underground cellar on the estate thatâs still in use today was built in the 19th century by Prince Soukovo Kabylin of Russia (the same guy who was appointed to the Russian court for Armagnac â yes, the Russians had an actual court for Armagnac). The Garreau family is renowned for crafting refined eaux-de-vie from grape varieties of Baco, Ugni Blanc, and Folle Blanche.
Part of their Sensation collection, ChĂąteau Garreau Millesime 2001 Grand Bas Armagnac was aged in oak barrels in their underground cellar on the estate. Bottled at 82 proof, this rich Armagnac greets with a subtle nose of chocolate, Demerara sugar, and vanilla that echo on the subtle and well-rounded palate, packed with plum and grilled chestnuts. Make fancy and impress your friends by serving this elegant Armagnac as a digestif or paired with a cheese plate.
