Booker's 'Beaten Biscuits' Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey
Jim Beam Distillery — the integral part of mega-corp Beam Suntory — is one of the largest Bourbon producers in the world. Seven generations of the Beam Family have worked the stills there since 1795. The Jim Beam Distillery makes an unusually large number of offerings for it’s core Jim Beam line and several brands, including Red Stag, Jacob’s Ghost, and a selection of higher end "small batch" Bourbons — Baker’s, Basil Hayden’s, Knob Creek, and our Bourbon of the day, Booker’s.
Booker’s is truly a small batch affair. Each one has a unique character. That’s why they always talk about the "current batch" that is available — often awarding it a nickname. Booker’s Q4 2019 release of Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon is called "Beaten Biscuits" for short. And because it is hand crafted we know a LOT about it. The mash bill is 77% corn, 13% rye, and 10% malted barley. We even have detailed descriptions of where each cask was stored in which warehouse. We also know that it was aged EXACTLY six years, six months, and nineteen days and bottled at 63.05% ABV.
Smartass Corner:
The name "Beaten Biscuits" comes from Fred Noe’s farther — the legendary Booker Noe — who had a recipe for making small, snack-sized biscuits.
